Description 
|
MATERIALS: Cotton cloth.
CONSTRUCTION: Handblock printed, vegetable resist dye.
MOTIFS: Dhadiyo, rupiyo ladvo border, phuladi, eko, pinjaro.
COLOURS : Maroon, black and white.
STYLE REMARKS: Borders are fixed. Centre can be one of five different patterns. Colour is tradional. Traditionally the malir has four borders at kinara and six at cheda.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Worn by jats as poth (lungi). Name is derived from old region of Sindh.
CULTURAL REMARKS: Preferred by camel herding jats and often used by young boys. In Sindh heavily embroidered Malirs are used in Meghval community by grooms at wedding times.
