Description
|
| MATERIALS: Mashru cloth, cotton threads, mirrors , buttons, beads, tassels, cowrie shells. CONSTRUCTION: Hand stitched, embroidered, chain, cretan, double buttonhole, detached chain, herringbone and interlaced stitches. MOTIFS: Kori ghodi goto, makodiyun and popti. COLOURS : Multicoloured with orange, yellow and white predominant on green and orange. STYLE REMARKS: The kori ghodi goto is one of oldest border patterns used amoung all Rabaris of Kachchh. Rabaris always like alternating patterns. Note use of contrastiong colour at end of object with change in piping and outlining colour. CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Used on sword by the groom at time of wedding. CULTURAL REMARKS: The original tassels were made with small cowrie shells.
