Culture Kachhi Rabari
Description MATERIALS: Coton cloth, cotton threads, mirrors, rickrack, beads and tassels.
CONSTRUCTION: Machine stitched, corners are lined, embroidered; square chain, cretan, interlaced, couched, back, buttonhole stitches.
MOTIFS: Buttiwali thigadi, deri, ambo, limbudi tak, makodiyun, gol tak, mokre, chutto kaanch, kali tak jharmar, phulli and chaini.
COLOURS : Multicoloured on Black and purple.
STYLE REMARKS: The central medallion was traditional to Kachhi Rabari ludis. Opposite corners were matched in patterns but opposite in colours. This is typical of Rabari style.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Worn by young boys for ceremonial occasions. A plain rumal of the same cloth is worn by young Kachhi men, and sometimes by other Kutchi subgroups. Ahirs also wear the same print.
CULTURAL REMARKS: The Rumal cloth is same as that worn by adult.
