Description |
MATERIALS: Cotton cloth. CONSTRUCTION: Woven. It has combination of plain weave and weft patterning. MOTIFS: Stripes. COLOURS : Deep maroon, natural green and orange. STYLE REMARKS: This type of patterning is used by Rabaris in Saurashtra as well. This type of patterning was only used for turbans. CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Traditionally, this turban was by middle aged men for ceremonial occasions. CULTURAL REMARKS: Different versions are used by each Rabari subgroup. Compare to the wool Dhebaria one. The name refers to the patterning of the cloth rather than usage. Weavers used to produce cotton cloth in summer and winter cloths in winter.
