Description 
|
MATERIALS: Cotton cloth, cotton threads, beads and tassels.
CONSTRUCTION: Hand stitched, quilted. Lower panel is embroidered: square chain, interlaced stitches.
MOTIFS: Various shapes of intelacing called ' Guntan' by Mutavas.
COLOURS : Black, yellow, orange purple on maroon, black and white.
STYLE REMARKS: Fine interlacig is done is Sindh, Baluchistan and by the Mutavas; also perhaps in Afghanistan.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Used as a dowry bag. This shape of bag is used throughout Pakistan and Gujarat.
CULTURAL REMARKS: Mutavas paractice many different style of embroidery, such as pako, kharek, bavaliyun but their work is characteristically extremely fine. See also MSC-54.
