Description |
MATERIALS: Cotton handloom vegetable dyes cloth. CONSTRUCTION: Hand block printed, resist dyes. MOTIFS: Irregular shaped dots and squares arranged in diagonal grid pattern. COLOURS : Maroon and black. STYLE REMARKS: Old pattern, perhaps used as underskirt. Originally these patterns were made by splattering mud on fabric. CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: To be stitched together and gathered possibly as an underskirt. Each community had is its own patterns. CULTURAL REMARKS: This is not comlete skirt. It has been cut and used to make a quilt. Skirt. |
