Culture Kachhi Rabari
Description MATERIALS: Cotton cloth, cotton threads, mirrors and buttons.
CONSTRUCTION: Hand stitched, embroidered, square chain, cretan, interlaced, herringbone, fishbone, buttonhole filling, and romanian stitches.
MOTIFS: Sudo, popti, makodiyun, deri, butti, jharmar, tak bawaliyun and gotto.
COLOURS : Multicoloured on green, orange and black.
STYLE REMARKS: These motifs and colours are typical of middle period from 1960-1980.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Used to carry paan, bidis, tobacco and mudhvas particularly during festival times. Generally used by men.
CULTURAL REMARKS: Went out of use among Kachhi Rabaris by the late 1970's.
