Description 
MATERIALS: synthetic and cotton cloth, cotton threads, buttons, and rickrack. CONSTRUCTION: Machine stitched, hand embroidered, square chain, detached chain, romanian, interlaced, and running stitches. MOTIFS: Kabat, lodan mor, double sudo, mor and popti. COLOURS : The body has screen print on purple. Border multicoloured on dark green. STYLE REMARKS: The bold outlined motifs were fashionable by the end of the 1980's. Motifs have become very abstract but are still hand excecuted. The style is similar to that of Dhebarias during the same period. The cloth was originally brought back from mascat by Rabaris who went there as labourers. Called ''Mascat,'' it became a status symbol during the 1990's. Later, copies were made in India. CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Its used as a baby carrier and also a veil for young girls; given as a gift to the mother of a newborn. CULTURAL REMARKS: Paniyo is a general term for a loom width cloth (from Panno). Paniyo, lunghi.
