Description MATERIALS: Synthetic cloth, acrylic threads, metallic, cotton threads, mirrors and rickrack.
CONSTRUCTION: Machine stitched, machine and hand embroiderey, square chain, cretan, interlaced, couched and buttonhole stitches.
MOTIFS: Cycle, phuldi, limbudi tak.
COLOURS :Multicoloured on black.
STYLE REMARKS: This is latest Rabari fashion, employing time saving devices such as machine embroiderey and rickrack. Also synthetic materials such as scrylic and metallic threads. Motifs are outlined by professional machine embroidery, therefore reducing the repertoire of motifs and individual input.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: the theli is used by most embroidering communities of Kutch. It is a sort of status symbol to bring a decorated bag to town for shopping. The style announces the user's identity.
CULTURAL REMARKS: Modernisation of technique is what keeps the craft alive and vital.
