Description

MATERIALS: Cotton cloth.
CONSTRUCTION: Woven, supplementary weft patterning and weft faced patterning.
MOTIFS: Checks, geometric patterns and stripes.
COLOURS : Black and white.
STYLE REMARKS: Weft feced patterning is also used in man's turban. Patterns are similar to those in Khathi, katho, and ludi.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Worn by elders of Kachhi Rabari. Younger men wear coloured versions. See R 73.
CULTURAL REMARKS: Each subgroup has its own patterning. Dhebaria Khes are white with black checks. Woven in Saurashtra. The name Khes and style of weaving originally come from Pakistan.
