Description
|
| MATERIALS: Cotton, mashru and silk cloth, cotton and silk threads and mirrors. CONSTRUCTION: Machine stitched, applique, embroidered; chain, detached chain interlaced, cretan, heringbone stitches. MOTIFS: Kungri, jharmar, popti, makodiyun, tak bawaliyun. COLOURS : Multicoloured on green, red, yellow, black white mashru. STYLE REMARKS: Mashru pattern is called Kataria and traditional for brides' skirts and groom's shawl as well as chorni. The cuffs are appliqued in kungri pattern. Oldest existing Rabari style. CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Used by a young boy or a groom. Thereafter, for festival a wrapped pachhedi is used. Both the mashru and the stitched full pants are associated with Islamic culture and indicate the influence of Islamic neighbors on Rabaris. CULTURAL REMARKS: Worn with kediyun or adan. Chorano, Groom's pants. |
