Description 
|
MATERIALS: Mashru, cotton cloth, cotton threads and mirrors.
CONSTRUCTION: Machine stitched, embroidered; chain, detached chain, cretan, interlaced, herringbone, double buttonhole.
MOTIFS: Popti, Makodiyun, tak bawaliyun, ghodi goto, kali tak ni jharmar.
COLOURS : Cloth is red, black yellow and white. Embroidery is multicoloured on black.
STYLE REMARKS: The particular mashru pattern, called katariyo, is traditional for Kachhi skirts and also the shalvar of grooms. The border pattern is also traditional.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Historically, the tailored skirt is probably as old as the wrapped skirt.
CULURAL REMARKS: Adult Rabaris do not use the stitched skirt. It is used by girls and, among the Kachhi subgroup, Brides.
