Description
|
| MATERIALS: Glass beads, cotton cloth, cotton threads and wooden sticks. CONSTRUCTION: Woven. A piece of cardboard is fixed over seven sticks and beaded. Beads are attached to fabric. Small looped Jali at bottom. MOTIFS: Diamond shapes in diagonal grid. COLOURS : Multicoloured with white red cloth. STYLE REMARKS: The Kachhi Rabari mod is always beaded. The fixing of beads to cloth is less common among Rabaris. The Rabari mod is rectangular with sticks standing up. Looped fringe is an old technique. CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Worn over turbans during wedding ceremony. It resembles a crown. CULTURAL REMARKS: Among Rabaris only the boy wears a Mod. The girl wears a string which is sometimes beaded around head. Mod, Turban |
